Had a meeting with some of my PEO sisters last night.  It is so great to have younger women involved in PEO.  We have lots of great plans.  International Convention is in St. Louis in 2011, so we are making plans to have a big showing from Chapter JP.  How about you guys in Galva?  St. Louis isn't all that far.  I'm saving up my pennies in a special fund.

OOOHHH!!  I LOVE March Madness.  Finals today for our district.   Unfortunately our boys team, 25-1 record, was beaten on Thursday.  But Andy and I follow all the games now, so we are headed back to the ARENA OF DOOM, which is Thayer High School.  Their boys and girls teams are BOTH playing for the district title tonight, so it will be a rockn' place.  (Do you think I've been listening to too many radio sports shows or spending too much time on Facebook???)

First we were chasing clocks.  Now we're chasing watches!   Went up to Mt. View MO about an hour from here yesterday and found a pocket watch to buy.  Found out after we left that the owner had some watch stuff that we didn't see.  So back we went today----and bought three watch cases.  It just never ends.  We are doing our part to stimulate the economy!

It is still chilly here...in the 60's...but yesterday lawncare people came and planted two beautiful Royale Palms..one right across the street from my condo and another right in front of my condo.  They are huge and when they unfold will be so pretty.  I took pictures of the plantings.  It was something to watch them unload and dig the hole and lower them in and pull them up.   Our warm weather is to arrive this weekend and next so we are really looking forward to the pool again.
Watch for the robins and blue boat grackles to arrive in Galva on March 11th.  They come back every year on that date and then ONE MORE SNOWSTORM and that should be it.  The poor things always sit all huttled up trying to keep warm.
Yes, it does seem early for Daylight Savings Time on March 14th.  Cheers....................

Our first really nice day here in Normal, IL.  It's in the 40's and sunny.  Wore a lighter lined jacket instead of a big, winter coat.  My friend just got back from  a little over 2 months in Leesburg, FL.  She said it was cold there most of Jan & Feb.  I'm hoping not to have to use the snow blower any more this season.  Jane, enjoy reading your guests' writings.  Also, I agree, daylight savings time seems really early this year.   I would think it would be the same time every year - - - just seems early this year.   Hope everyone is fine in Gainesville.

Hope it warms up for you,Wayne.  It is sunny but cool here.  All my calendars show spring flowers----somehow I feel they are rushing the season.  Our crocus is up and the daffodils are showing green leaves, but it has been too cool at night to really see them jump and open.  The people who own the orchard where we buy peaches are glad for the cold nights.  They say that it will keep the peaches from budding too soon.  I hope so.   Fingers crossed that we will have no spring freezes this year.

Lot of rain and wind early this morning. No damage here. Now sun trying to come out. Its warm which is good but colder temps are coming. Went to trift store this morning and of course had to buy something I couldn't live without. Ha. Mom called from Tn. and its snowing there. About an inch and still coming down. Glad I'm not there. I haven't made my mind up yet about going up there for her birthday the 17th.

Did a little housekeeping here on the guestbook.  Didn't realize that we had messages from August on there.  How time flies where you're having fun.  Speaking of which---has everyone dug out of the snow and  looking forward to spring?  I noticed that daylight savings time starts on the 14th of this month.  Isn't that early?  Or maybe I missed that memo.

Basketball time.  Thanks, Cherie for sending the article about Rich Falk.  I remember standing in the gym on the sidelines---so hot the windows were steamed up---and watching those guys pour in basket after basket and the score going up and up!!  What excitement--even for a little sister.

Wonderful thing happened at church today.  There was a 96 year old lady who had come to church for about 6 weeks this winter.  She fell not too long ago and now is confined to her apt.  She can't sit for long periods of time and so can't come to church anymore.  She called our pastor and said that even tho she wasn't able  to come to church anymore, she would like to become a member of our church!   So our pastor called a deacon and an elder and they went to her apt. and took her confession of faith and gave her communion.  How great is that!  This lady has no family and so now we are her family.  Makes me smile all over.
